Massage Therapy

Touch and emotional wellness are vital to life and healing of the body, mind, and spirit. At Grand Rapids Natural Health we believe in whole person wellness, keeping all aspects of health in mind. For this reason, we are honored to offer massage therapy and cranial sacral therapy services to aid in our client’s pain relief and improve overall health. Massage and cranial sacral work can stimulate the body’s own innate ability to heal, create alignment and ease within the spinal, neural and muscular systems and create deep, interpersonal connection.

Our massage therapists, Lisa Gowins, LMT, creates a space for deep healing by blending nurturing, educated touch, with intuition, through listening to your body’s rhythms. She treats each individual based on their unique healing needs and is passionate about using high-quality products that are healthy for your skin. We are excited to partner with Keeki Pure and Simple, to provide a vegan, cruelty-free, organic massage oil for our clients. Our massage therapists also use individualized essential oils, infused into the massage oil as needed.

Swedish Massage

  • 60 Minute Swedish Massage: $65
  • 90 Minute Swedish Massage: $95

As the best-known type of bodywork performed today, one of the primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. However, Swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Deep Tissue Massage

  • 60 Minute Deep Tissue Massage: $75
  • 90 Minute Deep Tissue Massage: $110

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to relaxation or Swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension, increasing flexibility and targeting problem areas. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Prenatal Massage

  • 60 Minute Prenatal Massage: $65
  • 90 Minute Prenatal Massage: $95

Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of therapeutic massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation, release hip pain and sciatica – but is also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. Therapists who are trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly to fit the needs of each pregnant woman.

Postnatal Massage

  • 60 Minute Postnatal Massage: $65
  • 90 Minute Postnatal Massage: $95

Postpartum bodywork is an effective and holistic approach for the many adjustments to motherhood. Massage is well known for relaxation, stress reduction, pain relief, and other health benefits. Unique postpartum benefits include hormone regulation, reduced swelling, better sleep and improved breastfeeding. More advanced therapy helps restore your body to its pre-pregnancy condition, speeds healing and assists with C-section recovery.

Infant Massage

  • 60 Minute Infant Massage: $65
  • 90 Minute Infant Massage: $95

Infant Massage is a very old parenting practice that has been modernized and is in active use today, supported by evidence-based research. Infant massage is a bonding activity between parents and their children. In the most basic terms, infant or pediatric massage refers to the process of stroking the muscles of an infant using a variety of specialized massage techniques. Vocalization, eye-to-eye contact, and other positive behavioral reinforcements are also important components of the massage and offer many benefits for both baby and parent.

Sports Massage

  • 60 Minute Sports Massage: $75
  • 90 Minute Sports Massage: $110

Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. The particulars of the sports massage technique are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice, focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.

Hot Stone Massage

  • 60 Minute Hot Stone Massage: $95

Hot stone massage therapy melts away tension, eases muscle stiffness and increases circulation and metabolism. Each hot stone massage therapy session promotes deeper muscle relaxation through the placement of smooth, water-heated stones at key points on the body.
